A museum is a dance of “dead objects” where the artifacts and their relation with human motion are the only important thing.
A work in progress - Designing the spaces of the Refuge for Female victims of Domestic Violence at Asham Wharf. This drawing begins to describe the spatial experience and blurring of boundaries between communal and isolated space.

Drawn choreography of the negotiation of spatial boundaries with the uniform, Scale 1:200.
This choreography is accompanied with a film which documents my journey through the landscape and negotiation of the boundaries within this landscape.
I enter the site and allow myself to become subconsciously distracted. Once an opening within a tree, allowing me to see to the what is beyond the tree, catches my eye, I consciously stop. This is represented through the vector which ends with a cross.
This begins the process of transferring powdered chalk from a sack, buckled to the uniform, to the funnel. I release the funnel with a drawstring and follow a line of desire to my point of interest: the frame. This is represented through white stitching.
I reach the boundary of one of the river’s tributaries which directs me to pull the drawstring down, pulling the funnel back up and ending the drawn chalk line.
I negotiate the boundary whilst being aware of its presence, represented through the layered red paint - the void which exists between by my body and the boundary.
Once I reach my point of interest on the other side of the river, I become distracted by another, and begin the chalk drawing process again until I reach my second and final boundary: the river once again.
This performance begins to talk of promenade, desire lines, boundaries and the negotiation of space.
Designating Boundary Zones for landscape exploration with the uniform at Barcombe Mills, Scale 1:500.
In this drawing I placed co-ordinates at the boundaries that would need to be negotiated across the site of Barcombe Mills. Barcombe Mills is located next to a reservoir and is a site through which many tributaries of the river, meander.
I drew longitudinal and latitudinal lines to designate a ‘hot-spot’ which would give my landscape exploration with the uniform more rigour, purpose and specifity.
Walking from Southease Swing bridge to Asham Cement Wharf, and a Landfill site which was once Rodmell Cement and Lime works. Scale 1:2500
It was also the site of Virginia and Leonard Woolf’s home before they were surrounded by the cement works, to flee to live on the other side of the river at Rodmell House.
